特別ポスト- ECA (Survival English) - 期末プレゼンテーションについて- schedules & presenting language

Hello to all my Survival English students,

How are you doing? Above is the list of our groups, and which class members are in them. Please remember that Kazuki Ohya is in the group with Nozomu and Noboru

This post is very important, so please read this! This will help you in your work for next week. I hope you are doing well and will be ready for next week's final presentations. In this special post, I have:

Here's our schedule for next week:

Please be ready on your group's day to present! Nozofisu's name might change - but they'll still present on Monday

Here are some useful expressions!
You can use these when speaking in your talkUsing these expressions is called signposting - using words and phrases that signal to the audience how you introduce your topichow you go to the next part of your talk, and so on.

1. Introducing your topic
Thank you for your time today. we'd like to begin by...
First of all, we'll...
Starting with this point, we'll...
We'll begin with...

2. Ordering points or parts
First(ly)...second(ly)...third(ly)...last(ly)...
First...then...next...after that...finally...
To begin with...later...to finish up...

3. Finishing one point and starting a new point
We've looked at...(now) let's turn to...
And that's this point...now we'd like to show you...
From here let's look at...

4. Giving examples
For example...
To give you an example...
A good example is...

5. Finishing your talk
We'd like to finish by saying...thank you for listening today.
Let us finish by saying...thank you for your time today.
To sum up...and that's all. Thank you for listening.

You don't have to use every one of these expressions! But for each part of your talk, you should use at least one of these expressions as you go along.

Here is my email address - washizoraATgmailDOTcom. Email me if you need any help or if you have any questions.

Good luck! See you next week!

週14・特別ポスト- the Small Book of Big People (Part 4)

Hello to all my students,

This picture is copyright- and attribution-free from the Apple picture archives

How are you? Here's one more selection of writing about exceptional people. Take a look at these - and enjoy them!

Here's another one:

Sachiko is my mother. She balances a part-time job with housework. She is busy every day, but she makes it at time to talk about with our family a lot. I talk with her and she knows how to laugh and be fun every day. I love her for all the things she does and dream of my becoming a mother like her someday.

Sounds like a lovely, energetic mum! Here's another one about a father:

My father is kind to anyone and is loved. Because I was educated strictly when I was small, I disliked him. But I understood that all the strictness was for me. He is active in local government . He does so much, but he supports me. He supports me anytime. Therefore I call him a superman. I want to become somebody like him, loved by everyone.

How about that? Here's another one:

My sister is eleven years old. She is an elementary school student. She doesn’t come to me about her student problem. She enjoys her school. Her personality is active and cheerful. Her looks is tiny but so cute. She is good at sports because she runs fast and is strong too. She is a good soccer player. She is belonging junior soccer team. This team sometimes goes to play soccer for many places and she is active there. She goes to learn hip-hop. So she dances well. My sister and I don’t quarrel. We often watch TV. I sometimes teach study for her. My sister and I sometimes go eat dinner with my family. We often eat sushi. She is very important people for my friend.

Now here's one about a famous person:

An exceptional person to me is Elle Fanning. She is American girl, 15 years old. She has already worked as an actress for more than 10 years.
She’s good actress and it’s one of reasons why I love her. Important reason why is that she doesn’t forget pure teenage heart though she lives in business world more than 10 years. Many popular teenage girls try to be adult, but she doesn’t do that. So I love her and she is an exceptional person to me.

Another one!

My exceptional person is Shinji Kagawa. He is a pro soccer player. He plays for Japan national team. He is a member of Manchester United Football Club. He is the first Asian player to score a hat trick in The Premier League. The stadiums are packed with excited spectators to see him play. Similarly I was excited. I have respect for his beautiful play. He has the fans in his power.

One more!

My older brother Shota is whom I look up to. He was enthusiastic about cars as long as I can remember. Now, he studies at university as a machine engineering student and devotes himself to experiment of car. Because I think he is very honest when he was a child, I believe him every time. Therefore, he won a job at Toyota. He won that status by his effort!

He sounds like a great brother to have!

There is much more to publish, but that's all the time there is. Have a great summer and a lot of fun! I'll see all of you in September with our finished book.

おつかれさまでした!
