So here are some review questions for Units 910, 11, & 12

According to the textbook, what could be one (1) idea about the future of money?

Unit 11

What was the weather like on the day of the accident?
What are fatalities?
How many people were killed in the accident?

Unit 12

So good luck on your review! As I also mentioned in class, I recommend that you get together with the partner you selected and review with him or her this week outside of class. That way, you can help prep each other for the test.

See you at your time with your partner next week!

東京理科大学 A英1: Final review game board exam instructions review・期末テスト「ボードゲーム」の説明レビュー

Happy New Year!

How are you? I hope you had a great New Year's break

Today I will post here a review of the instructions (説明) about our final review exam. As I've said in class, it will be in the form of a board game. We will play this on our final class meeting on January 28th (1/28).

It's the same board game you played in the review exam in July - but now with some different questions from the textbook!

I hope once again that this is an interesting way to take a test for all of you!

Instructions
First - like before, this is what the board will look like. It will be on A3-sized paper:

You will notice 14 playing squares - seven (7) black squares, and seven (7) white squares, with the start square and the goal in grayThis board will be for the two (2) game pieces that two (2) players will play on

The 14 squares will be for the questions that both players will ask each other. The arrows show the directions the players will move their game pieces around on when they answer the questions correctly.

Now let's review the steps in the board game!

Here is what the score sheet looks like (It's small on the scan shot, but you'll see it more clearly on paper next week!)

As before, you will see that there are spaces for three (3) "makeup" (補講) questions

As you play with your partner, if your partner's score is not so high after the seven (7) questions, you will see four (4) extra questions. You can choose up to three (3) of these "makeup" questions to ask your partner

Special note: Only do these extra three (3) questions if your partner hasn't been doing well. If your partner has been scoring well - you don't need to ask these questions!

This can give your partner some more chances to raise up a higher score on the test.

I hope this is okay for all of you! Take a look at these steps - look at them as many times as you want or need. We'll play this next week (1/28) in our last class for the review exam!

So good luck! See you next week!

東京理科大学 A英1: Final spring review board game questions・前学期期期末テスト「ボードゲーム」のレビュー

Hello!

How are you? As I mentioned in class today, here are some review questions for all of you for next week's (7/30) board game review test

Before anything - I owe all of you an apology. I overlooked doing Unit 5 about the Industrial Revolution - and I do not know why! It was an oversight on my part, and that's all. So you do not have to review anything from Unit 5. We'll do this one from the second part of our year in September!

In addition - I mentioned that the review would be a 100-point test. This is also my mistake -  it will be worth a maximum of 50 points. I'm very sorry about that!

So here are some review questions for Units 4, 6, & 7

Review questions
Unit 4
What are totem poles?
Who made them, and where?
What do totem poles show?

What kind of characteristics are associated with bears?
What kind of characteristics are associated with eagles?
Who are First Nations people?
What is a cedar?
What does sneaky mean?
What does determination mean?
Where did the Nuu-chah-nulth people originally live?
Which First Nations people's totem poles did Alessandro Malaspina discover?
Which famous explorer noticed the totem poles on Haida Gwai island in 1787?

Unit 6
When did ukiyoe first become popular?
What does “ukiyoe” mean in English?
What kinds of subjects were most depicted in ukiyoe?
When did ukiyoe begin to decline in popularity?
What is woodblock printing?
What is a transfer?
What does carve mean?
What does inspiration mean?
Why did ukiyoe artists start using woodblocks?
What event in Hokusai's life made him begin to work harder?
What is the most famous print in his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series?
What was unique about one of the colors used in this famous print?

Unit 7
When did fish farming first develop?
Which continent produces the majority of fish farming?
Around what precentage of fish comes from farms?
Name four examples of fish that are commonly produced in fish farms.
What are hormones?
What are antibiotics?
What is feed?
What is cage farming?
What happens to some kinds of fish when they are overcrowded in fish farms?
Why would fish farming not reduce overfishing?
Why are tilapia ideal for fish farming?
What kind of feed do tilapia eat?

So good luck on your review! As I also mentioned in class, I recommend that you get together with the partner you selected and review with him or her this week outside of class. That way, you can help prep each other for the test.

See you at your time with your partner next week!

I hope this will be an interesting way to take a test for all of you!

Instructions
I wasn't sure what the best way was to show you how to play this game - so I wrote out the instructions by hand and scanned them, then uploaded them here. This is (I hope!) a way to save time and paper, and something you could look at anytime on your Smartphone.

First - this is what the board will look like. It will be on A3-sized paper:

You will notice 14 playing squares - seven (7) black squares, and seven (7) white squares, with the start square and the goal in grayThis board will be for the two (2) game pieces that two (2) players will play on

I hope this is okay for all of you! Take a look at these steps - look at them as many times as you want or need. We'll play this next week (7/30) in our last class for the review exam!

See you then!
